things to do year-round.

The Mogollon Rim is a spectacularly scenic geological formation, or escarpment, that cuts across the northern half of Arizona, as much as 200 miles wide. With cliff drops as much as 2000’ in some areas, the Rim provides extraordinary views stretching from its rocky precipice to the Four Peaks of the Mazatzal Mountains just 30-45 minutes northeast of Phoenix.

Whether you enjoy an afternoon hike, a day on lake, off-roading in the backcountry, cross-country skiing or exploring the local shops, you’ll find it in the many small rural towns that call Rim Country home.

Rim Lakes Recreation

There are multiple lakes on the Mogollon Rim and each of them offer different recreational opportunities, such as swimming, boating, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, and stand-up paddleboarding. Make sure to spend a day at Woods Canyon Lake and Willow Springs Lake, both have easy access from the paved highway while Black Canyon Lake or Chevelon Canyon Lake take you through scenic dirt roads and an exhilarating hike.
